Acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar

Today was an acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. This bustling Sherpa town, perched at 3,440 meters, is a key stop for trekkers heading towards Everest Base Camp. We set out for a local hike, taking in some incredible sights along the way. We passed another entrance to Sagarmatha National Park, a protected area that serves as the gateway to Everest and is home to rare wildlife like the snow leopard and red panda.

A highlight of the day was visiting the Sherpa Museum, where we explored the rich history and resilience of the Sherpa community.


The statue of Tenzing Norgay, the legendary mountaineer who first summited Everest with Sir Edmund Hillary in 1953, stood proudly in the background, a reminder of the daring spirit of mountaineers.

Due to the overcast sky, we missed catching our first glimpse of Mount Everest as it was veiled behind the clouds at Everest Hotel.

I've always enjoyed sipping tea at the Everest Hotel.

On our way back, we admired the panoramic view of Namche Bazaar, its vibrant teahouses and shops nestled into the hillside. 

We also passed by the Khumjung, a sacred site deeply embedded in local Buddhist culture.

One of the most inspiring moments of the day was meeting Raman Sood, a 72-year-old trekker originally from India and now residing in Dubai. A friend’s friend, he is also on this journey to fulfill a childhood dream. Meeting someone his age taking on this adventure was truly motivating and a testament to the fact that passion and determination know no age.


Wrapping up the day with a hearty dinner- looking forward to what tomorrow brings!

When Nature Tested the Spirit

My dream eluded — at 8,450 meters. After a brutal 10-hours ascent from Camp 3 to Camp 4, I managed only a brief 3-hour rest before setting out for the summit push at 8:30 p.m. on May 14th. But somewhere along that final stretch, battered by harsh weather and a biting, dust-laden wind, my body finally gave out. I had nothing left — not even the strength to take another step. The Sherpas from 8K Expeditions went above and beyond, helping me back to Camp 4 when I could no longer walk. Even after reaching Camp 4 on 15th May, I remained immobilized and on oxygen as it's the Death Zone. The time has come - Everest weather window is open!

The highly anticipated weather window on Mt. Everest has officially opened, marking the start of the brief but critical period when climbers can safely attempt to reach the world's highest summit. This window offers a rare break in the brutal jet stream winds and sub-zero temperatures that dominate Everest’s upper slopes. We had an early dinner at 6 PM today. After breakfast at midnight (12 AM), we'll leave Base Camp around 1 AM for Camp 2. We've packed poop bags for Camps 3 and 4, and we've also picked up dehydrated meals since there are no kitchens at those camps—just access to hot water.
